Laborers International Union of North America
The Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) is a rapidly expanding union of construction workers and public service employees. With more than 500,000 members, LIUNA obtains collective bargaining agreements to ensure its members earn substantial pay, good benefits and the chance to advance in their field.
Founded in 1903, LIUNA was formed by a handful of workers who overcame hostility and violence to join together for a better life. Throughout the 1900s, LIUNA stood up for African American workers’ rights, launched a volunteer organization program and fought for fair training, pension and healthcare. Today, LIUNA members work and live throughout the United States and Canada building schools, bridges and skyscrapers.
